REPORT SUMMARY

Why?

We always want to improve. By looking at the carbon emissions from our product materials, we can identify areas where we can do better and reduce our impact on the environment even further. With the aim of gaining greater awareness and control of our environmental performance, we decided to issue this study to evaluate the Carbon Footprint of our three product materials: Biobased, Recycled Metal and Ocean plastic.

How?

We've followed the ISO 14067 and the ISO standards on Life Cycle Assessment (ISO14040/14044) for this study. Carbon Footprint is a key indicator that quantifies the direct or indirect greenhouse gas emissions from a company, organization, product, or event. It allows us to gauge the impact of our activities on climate change. This study supports our commitment to environmental awareness and sustainability, empowering us to share valuable insights with you, our customers.

What's measured?

The report includes frame, lenses, glasses case, cleaning cloth and packaging raw material production, their transport to suppliers, semi-finished products production, packaging reel production, its transport to the logistic centers, distribution of finished product through retail channel and end of life of the product and packaging.

*Total (neutral approach – kg CO2 eq)" refers to amount of greenhouse gas emissions, measured in kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalent (kg CO2 eq), associated with production. This includes direct and indirect emissions throughout the entire product life cycle.

Average CO2 eq per Eco frame

1.482 kg*

*average quantity of our Biobased, Recycled metal and Ocean Plastic frames

SO, WHAT IS A GOOD NUMBER?

To provide some context, we've gathered the average CO2 emission in some other daily products.

Jeans

The production of a pair of jeans can emit around 20 kg of carbon dioxide.

Book

The estimated carbon footprint of the paperback book is 2.7 kg CO2 equivalent per copy.

Shirt

The production of a polyester shirt can produce the equivalent of 5.5 kilograms of carbon dioxide, compared to 2.1 kg from a cotton shirt.
